Description:
Galangal is a relative of the Ginger root. In fact, its name 'galangal' is derived from the Chinese for 'mild Ginger'. It is often used in Asian cuisine for its slightly more citrusy flavour than its popular cousin.
In recent years, however, it's medicinal value has become more apparent and it is now used as much as a spice as a medicine.
Benefits:
Galangal calms the stomach. This makes it the perfect medicine for nausea, wind and vomiting. It is also given as an effective cure for sea-sickness.
Dosage:
For medicinal purposes, use 1-2g as a tea as desired. Or, just use as you would dried Ginger in your food preparations.
Safety:
There are no safety indications for using Galangal.
